Pet Education Day

Neighborhood Jazz Concert & Summer Camp Youth Registration

ADVISING, DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER FORECAST, THE NEIGHBORHOOD JAZZ CONCERT  HAS BEEN RE-SCHEDULED TO SUNDAY, JUNE 9TH 4PM TO 8PM. PLEASE EXCUSE THE INCONVENIENCE.


Saturday, May 11th Councilmember Joyce M. Sheperd in partnership with the 36th Annual Atlanta Jazz Festival will be showcasing jazz performers Infinite Sound Family, Gabbie McGhee, and J.Henry. Live Jazz begins at 4p.m. Summer Camp Youth Registration will be  held near the splash pad from 2p.m. to 4p.m. After 5 Summer Camp, Camp Best Friends, Girls and Boys Club, YMCA, and others will be in attendance! Bring your kids for snow cones, popcorn and register for camp. Do not forget to bring your picnic baskets and blankets.

The concert will be held at Perkerson Park, 770 Deckner Avenue S.W., Atlanta Ga 30310. We look forward so seeing you at the park!

Earth Day & Tire Recycling

On April 20th, residents from all over District 12 will take it to the streets for Earth Day & Tire Recycling! We have volunteers from all over the district planning individual clean up projects and tire removal initiatives on their streets and communities. Participants will be able to drop off tires at  the Atlanta Fire Training Academy and debris at the Rosel Fann Recreation Center at 8a.m. Come out and let's make District 12 and City of Atlanta clean!

On Saturday, April 13, 2013 at 9a.m. Councilmember Sheperd will be joined with an Atlanta Beltline tour guides as we  walk the beltline in District 12! She invites members of the community to join her in learning more about the Atlanta Urban Farm and to walk from Allene Avenue and end at Enota Park. Come out and see the vision of the beltline in Southwest Atlanta!  Continental Breakfast will be provided. See you there!

District 12: Public Safety Town Hall Meeting

Atlanta-On Thursday, March 21, 2013, Council Member Sheperd will be hosting the District 12: Public Safety Town Hall Meeting. at 6:30p.m. at the Rosel Fann Recreational Center.  The meeting will discuss approaches to improve public safety in our district! Please come and bring a neighbor! Light refreshments will be served.

Atlanta City Council Member Joyce Sheperd takes students on Civil Rights Heritage Tour!

ATLANTA- March 12th -– Atlanta City Councilmember Joyce Sheperd and members of the After 5 Program joined Mrs. Evelyn G. Lowery and SCLC/W.O.M.E.N. Inc for a two-day tour of sites significant site in the Civil Rights Movement in the state of Alabama recently.

In remembrance of those who sacrificed and gave their lives to the Civil Rights Movement, 13 memorials have been constructed in their honor throughout the state.

The annual tour traces the paths of history by visiting sites in Birmingham, Marion, Selma, Whitehall, Montgomery, Tuskegee and other locations.The group also got the chance to meet the people who made history and relive the event which brought about dramatic change in our country.The After 5 Program is an after school enrichment program founded by Councilmember Sheperd.


Pet Education Day

ATLANTA – Free pet vaccinations, routine pet checkups, dog leashes and tethering law information and more will be available for animals and their caregivers this Saturday, October 1st, 2011 at Pet Education Day from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.  at South Bend Park, 1955 Compton Drive, S.E.

The event is hosted by Atlanta City Councilmember Joyce M. Sheperd, Atlanta City Councilmember Carla Smith and Fulton County Commissioner Joan Garner. Staff from the Atlanta Humane Society, Fulton County Animal Control, and other pet experts will be in attendance. Read more

TEAM ATLANTA FIGHTS DIABETES

ATLANTA – Join the fight against diabetes as city employees and residents walk in the American Diabetes Association’s signature event, “Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes,” on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at Grant Park. Registration and check-in begin at 7:30 A.M. The walk starts at 8:30 A.M.

The city’s team is co-captained by Post 1 At-Large City Councilmember Michael Julian Bond and District 12 City Councilmember Joyce M. Sheperd. Read More.
